Samuel Fosso "African Spirits"
This serie is the realization of a project conceived by the African photographer for several years : to reinterpret in 14 self-portraits the photographic icons of the great leaders of African independence and the civil rights movement in the United States. Fosso thus invests the identities of Mandela, Senghor, Césaire, Miles Davis, Martin Luther King, Seydou Keita, Angela Davis, N’Krumah, Lumumba, Tommie Smith, Haile Selassie,
Muhammad Ali and Malcom X.
My role alongside Samuel was to research and gather for this photographic performance all the pieces of clothing and accessories worn by these personalities in their emblematic & historical portrait.

Samuel Fosso "Emperor of Africa"
The Emperor of Africa serie explores the relationship between Africa and China by recontextualising icons of Mao Zedong
with Fosso playing the part of the controversial Chinese leader.
For this second collaboration with Samuel Fosso, the aim was to recreate the outfits worn by the great helmsman in these historical photographs
